What does bus communication mean at D+H?
In information technology, the term 'bus' refers to a system that transmits data between multiple nodes in a network using a shared transmission path. The most important nodes in a smoke extraction and ventilation network are the building management system, window drives and control panels.
In the D+H product range you will find two bus technologies: AdComNet (ACN) for communication between controllers, and AdComBus (ACB) for communication between drive and controller. D+H bus technologies are based on Modbus, allowing them to be integrated in virtually any building management system.
• D+H provides two types of bus technologies: AdComNet (ACN) and AdComBus (ACB).
• ACN facilitates communication between controllers, while ACB enables communication between the drive and controller.
• D+H bus technologies are Modbus-based, allowing them to integrate seamlessly with nearly all building management systems.
• ACN has the distinction of being the first SHEV bus system approved by VdS.
• This technology allows SHEV controllers to come together to form a singular decentralized system.
• The controllers are linked in such a way that complex scenarios can be configured depending on space utilisation, i.e. individualised smoke compartments for opening and closing windows.
Benefits of AdComNet Technology:
• Significant cost savings due to minimized cabling needs and wiring efforts
• Decreased cable cross-sections and lengths due to decentralised topology
• Only one tenth of typical power consumption per node
• No special power supply required if the mains power fails
Benefits of AdComBus Technology:
• Direct control of the drives through the building management system
• Individualised control of multiple drives on a single cable
• One-percent position control accuracy
• Feedback on the actual position of the drives
• Optimum display of possible error messages
• Reduced cabling needs and less wiring effors due to bidirectional communication
• AdComBus (ACB) is designed on the Modbus RTU protocol.
Key Details about (ACB):
• ACB is a refined version of the AdComNet system.
• ACB allows the drives to communicate with the controllers and sends back information of opening width and status.
• Less cabling is required due to bidirectional bus communication between D+H controllers and D+H drives using just one bus line
• Synchronous operation of multiple drives on one opening element easy to implement
• For ventilation projects , ACB drives can be operated directly from the building management system.
• Extension and retraction of the chain can be controlled with millimetre precision
• Quick and easy read-out of all status messages
• Direct integration into the BMS via open Modbus RTU protocol
• Virtual grouping allows up to 32 drives to be controlled on just one cable, either as a group or separately, which reduces wiring and streamlines the control panel system
