Seden Acun Özgünler
Seden Acun Özgünler was born in Istanbul in 1974. After graduating from Tercuman College in 1995, she graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Architecture in 1997. In 2000, Istanbul Technical University Architecture Department. She completed her “Master” education in the field of Building Information-Building Materials and then her "PhD" in the same branch of science in 2007. She started to work as a research assistant at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Building Materials Departman, in 1999, became an Associate Professor in 2013, and has been holding the same chair since 2020. She is working as a faculty member. She teaches Building Materials, Protective Materials in Construction, Implementation Project, Sustainable Building Materials, Facade Materials and Components. In addition, she works as Environmental Control and Construction Technology Graduate Program Coordinator, Construction Material Laboratory Supervisor. Since 2013, she has been teaching two courses, "Contemporary Building Materials" and "Materials and Conservation Techniques", in the Department of Architecture at Fatih Sultan Mehmet University.
Areas of expertise: materials and technologies in architecture, materials and conservation techniques, traditional materials, stone conservation, material performance evaluation, experimental methods, sustainable materials, innovative materials, building biology etc. like this.
Academic studies; she has articles published in national and international journals, papers presented in conferences and published in the proceedings book, graduate thesis advisors, journal refereeing, team memberships in national and international projects, jury memberships, competition jury memberships, national and international book chapters.
Professional studies; since 1999, he has worked in scientific boards and advisory boards as a "material expert" in the "construction material inspection and evaluation reports" made within the scope of Istanbul Technical University Revolving Funds, and in many historical building restorations (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Antiquities Science Board Membership, Cultural Heritage Projects Directorate, etc.).
