With a history of more than 100 years, Austria-based Schmid Industrie Holding started its activities in 1890 with the production of lime. Baumit, the largest company under the umbrella of Schmid Industrie Holding, was established in Wopfing, Austria in 1988 with the cooperation of two building material companies. It serves with an annual production capacity of 6.5 million tons with more than 40 production facilities in 25 countries.
Baumit, whose turnover has exceeded 1 billion Euros today, is known as Europe's "Sheathing Giant" with the importance it attaches to innovation, trust and quality. Baumit, it began operations in 2006 in Turkey. Located in Gebze, Turkey production facility became operational in 2008. Opened with a total investment of 14 million Euros, the facility has an annual production capacity of 300 thousand tons. The extremely modern, high-tech Baumit production facility is one of the industry's most advanced technology facilities. The liquid production facility was commissioned in 2011 in order to develop the product range and to support the market demand.
